A Natural Approach to Back Pain

Corvallis chiropractic back pain treatmentChiropractic is based on the approach of helping your body to heal naturally through spinal adjustments and lifestyle changes that stimulate wellness. For Dr. Lach, this means working hard to reestablish your body's natural functioning to prevent the need for drugs or surgery. We notice that most of our Corvallis patients are happy to find a natural approach for their health conditions.

One benefit of chiropractic is that it helps people decrease or even eliminate the use of narcotics. Prescriptions are oftentimes issued to patients who have back problems. This is such a significant problem that the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) issued a news release stating that opioid (painkiller) risks overshadow the benefits when administered for back pain.

Some of the most common narcotics, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, include hydrocodone (Vicodin), oxycodone (OxyContin and Percocet), morphine, and codeine. Figures supplied by the AAN mention the fact that roughly 50% of the patients taking these types of substances for a period of three months are still on them five years down the road. This can further complicate the issue of back pain and healing, particularly if an opiate addiction occurs.

Compare that to chiropractic care which incorporates natural healing and the benefits are obvious. While a drug might be helpful at briefly reducing the symptoms of a health problem, it's not a real solution to the problem. Drugs don't fix your damaged back; it will only mask the pain.

Dr. Lach will first examine you to get to the origin of your back problems and then work with you to eliminate the problem -- without risky medications.

If you're ready for pain relief, naturally, give our Corvallis office a call at (541) 754-1947 to make an appointment with Dr. Lach.
